Chelsea have prioritised the signing of Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, according to El Nacional.
The Catalan rumour mongers claim that the Blues have “already started moves” to snap up the teenager, with manager Thomas Tuchel said to be a big fan of the player.
Wirtz is reportedly worth €100m (£85m) despite the fact that he is only still 18 years of age. For Leverkusen this season, he has racked up seven goals and seven assists in 14 games, and his excellent form is attracting a lot of suitors.
In addition to Chelsea, El Nacional say that Real Madrid are in the mix, but the fact that the German international is a Barcelona fan may complicate a move to the Spanish capital.
Reports in Germany have suggested that Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also tracking the midfielder.
Whatever the case, it isn’t thought that Wirtz will be leaving Leverkusen anytime soon. His father spoke earlier this year about his son staying at the Bundesliga club until at least 2023.
