Chelsea Handed Double Injury Boost Ahead Of The Super Cup Clash Against Liverpool

Chelsea duo Willian and Antonio Rudiger have both flown out with the squad to Istanbul for the Blues’ match against Liverpool in the European Super Cup tomorrow night.

Willian is the likelier to start out of the two with the Brazilian back in full training following a knee injury he sustained whilst away with Brazil at the Copa America last month.

Rudiger, meanwhile, hasn’t featured since having knee surgery back in April, but he could return if manager Frank Lampard feels the need to shore up the defence after the 4-0 defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.

N’Golo Kante should be in contention to start after playing 17 minutes on Sunday. In terms of other injuries, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek remain sidelined with Achilles problems, and Marco van Ginkel is still unavailable due to a serious knee injury.

Reece James also remains on the treatment table after undergoing surgery on damaged ankle ligaments last month.
