Chelsea Handed Double Injury Boost Ahead Of Liverpool Clash

Chelsea defenders Reece James and Ben Chilwell have been pictured back in training with the first-team squad.

James has not played since the win over Bournemouth on December 27th after suffering a recurrence of a knee injury.

Chilwell, meanwhile, has been out for even longer with a hamstring problem, which he initially picked up in the dying moments of the win over Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League back in early November.

It’s very unlikely that either fullback will be fit to start against Liverpool this weekend but it wouldn’t be a surprise if James makes the substitutes bench, having been out of action for considerably less time than Chilwell.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also be available for the fixture having had more than a week’s worth of full training, but the likes of Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic, Denis Zakaria, Edouard Mendy, Armando Broja, N’Golo Kante and Wesley Fofana are still ruled out.
