Chelsea handed boost in pursuit Dutch wonderkid after he rejects move to Tottenham

Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of youngster Justin Kluivert after he refusing to renew his contract at Ajax.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a fine season in the Eredivisie, scoring ten goals in 27 appearances.

And his performances have caught the eye of a host of Europe’s biggest clubs, including both Chelsea and Manchester United, with Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho understood to be big admirers of the winger.

It was recently reported that the teenager would stay at Ajax is they were able to match his increased wage demands – however Kluivert has since ruled out any chance of staying at the Amderstam Arena after the club tried to sell him to Tottenham behind his back.

“I’m not renewing my contract at Ajax. Too much has happened,”Kluivert told Volkstrant.

“The decreasing morale, lack of confidence, trying to sell me to Tottenham without me knowing.

“I heard about that at the last minute. That says nothing about Ajax, but about the people in the club.

“They do want they want. I get that feeling again, they do what they want.”

As well as his anger at the secret negotiations with Spurs, Kluivert has also aired his unhappiness at the club’s hierarchy.

The Dutchman believes the club too often change management, leading to feeling of instability amongst and distance amongst the players.

“Ajax change coaches too easily. They do not really get a chance,” he added.

“You notice our trainer that he is not really comfortable. You also saw that with Marcel Keizer.

“That’s what boys feel. You can see how trainers behave, how they express themselves, even in the press. It feels unstable.

“The team was very close at the beginning of the season. That is no longer the case.”
