Chelsea Handed £37m Blow With Outcast ‘Destined’ For Stamford Bridge Return

Monaco will not take up their option to sign Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko on a permanent basis, according to Goal Italy.

The Frenchman joined the Ligue One side on a season-long loan last summer, with a purchase clause set at €42.5m (£37m), but Goal claim the player is now “destined” to return to Stamford Bridge.

With the French League have ended prematurely, there are now serious financial implications for clubs like Monaco, who have finished ninth and won’t be participating in European competitions next season.

Bakayoko is also said to be on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar but it is believed that they don’t see the 25-year-old as a priority signing this summer.

It means, he will almost certainly be back in England soon. Another loan deal cannot be ruled but FIFA’s new regulations limiting loans for those over the age of 22 may force Chelsea into selling up instead.

As of next season, only eight senior players will be allowed out on loan. The Blues currently have 28 away on temporary assignments.
