Chelsea Given Major Injury Boost Ahead Of Sunday’s Game Against Spurs

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Christian Pulisic will be available to face Tottenham this weekend.

The American international has not played since coming on and scoring as a substitute in the 4-0 win over Krasnodar in the Champions League last month, but speaking after the victory against Rennes yesterday evening, Lampard said the winger is ready to play again:

“Christian Pulisic is back fit at the weekend. I have competition in that area.”

Callum Hudson-Odoi got on the scoresheet in the 2-1 win in France last night and, with Hakim Ziyech also in form, Lampard is right to point out that he has a lot of options available to him in wide areas.

It’s unlikely that Pulisic will start on Sunday, considering his ongoing hamstring issues, so his return will likely be managed carefully. He could well be an impact sub for the London derby at Stamford Bridge, though, and Lampard will certainly be delighted to have him available and ready to come back into the team when required.
