Chelsea Given A Major Boost In Their Attempts To Sign £109m Rated Keeper

Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak has “grown unhappy” at the Spanish club and could be open to leaving, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper goes on to say that the Slovenian international is “aware” of Chelsea’s interest in him, but there could also be competition from Manchester United who are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old as a possible replacement for David De Gea.

Following Kepa Arrizabalaga’s abject performance against Liverpool last night, Blues boss Frank Lampard will be keen for his club to step up their attempts to find a replacement.

While Oblak would be the ideal candidate, there is one major obstacle to any move going ahead: his asking price.

Atletico will not sell the Slovenian for below his release clause, which stands at an eyewatering €120m (£109m) and it may force Chelsea into looking at other targets.

The London club are interested in Dean Henderson, and Ajax’s Andre Onana is also said to be high on their list of targets.
