Chelsea ‘Frontrunners’ For £50m Rated Cameroon Star Who ‘Wants’ PL Move

Chelsea are leading the race for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, according to the Daily Mail. The Cameroon international reportedly “wants” a move to England and the Blues are said to be the “frontrunners” for his signature.

Manager Frank Lampard dropped number one Kepa Arrizabalaga for the 2-2 draw against Leicester last weekend and since then the club have been linked with a number of keepers, including Lille’s Mike Maignan and Udinese’s Juan Musso.

Onana would likely cost more than either of those potential targets with the Mail claiming that Ajax would demand between £40m and £50m for their first-choice goalkeeper.

The 23-year-old came through the youth academy at Barcelona before moving to the Eredivisie in 2015, and it is believed that the La Liga champions would be keen on re-signing him. However, it appears that the player has his heart set on a switch to the Premier League.

Onana has made 32 appearances in all competitions for Ajax this season, conceding 30 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets.
