Chelsea Flop To Be Replaced With Brazilian Star

Chelsea is looking to sign a replacement for Juan Cuadrado even though the Columbian only came to Stamford Bridge in February this year. According to Metro, Cuadrado could be replaced with 24 year old Douglas Costa who might just be the first of many Shakhtar Donetsk players to leave Ukraine at the beginning of July. The two players cost about the same but the problem is that the 27 year old Columbia international has dropped in price massively since the winter move to the Premier League. Interest from Roma and Inter seem more like rumors after seeing how poorly the winger has done since playing in a Chelsea shirt.

Douglas Costa was linked to Chelsea last year too but was not allowed to leave unless Chelsea paid an outrageous amount of money. After one of the worse seasons in years Shakhtar have dropped their financial expectations and £20million might be enough to sign the Brazilian right winger. The question that most should ask though is, why sign Costa and pay the extra money when you have Salah. The Egypt international has done an amazing job at Fiorentina where he was sent on loan as part of the Cuadrado deal. He looks more than qualified to take on the role of Chelsea’s main man on the right side of the attack and showed incredible abilities just as he did in Basel. His loan streak is finishing at the end of June when Mourinho will need to sit down and discuss having him spend another year in Italy.
