Chelsea finally seem to be making progress in the market

Chelsea’s storming Premier League campaign now seems to be a distant memory, with the Blues now embroiled in a battle on the transfer market to secure prime targets and keep hold of key-players.

A wealth of changes are expected in West London this summer as the likes of Diego Costa, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas have all been linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge, whilst a new striker, defender and central midfielder are top of the club’s wish-list.

Unfortunately, things seem to be progressing slowly with Antonio Conte’s side and a number of concerning reports have arisen to suggest that the Italian boss could quit his post if his demands on the transfer front aren’t met- which would hand a huge blow to the Blues.

Fortunately, those issues now seem to be resolved as The Telegraph reports Chelsea are confident Conte will sign a new deal- and that could kickstart Chelsea’s transfer activity, with interesting reports coming from across the media.

Former Manchester City goalkeeper willy Caballero looks to be the first man through the door as The Sun state the Argentine stopper has completed a medical with the Blues, which will see the experienced stopper come into the side as understudy to Thibaut Courtois- filling the void left by Asmir Begovic’s departure earlier this year.

Elsewhere, The Daily Express suggests Juventus full-back Alex Sandro is likely to accept a move to Stamford Bridge, in a deal which could end up surpassing the club-record fee Chelsea paid for Fernando Torres previously, which would give Chelsea a big boost to their defence.

Finally, reports from The Daily Star indicate that Romelu Lukaku has agreed personal terms with the Blues ahead of a potential return to Stamford Bridge from Everton- another deal that could end-up being a club record.

All in all, the latest reports indicate a positive turnaround for Chelsea in the transfer front and securing the future of Antonio Conte, as well as signing Caballero on a free transfer, is the perfect start to what needs to be a busy few months.

If Chelsea can also secure mega-deals for the likes of Sandro and Lukaku, then the Blues will be in a very strong position ahead of their Premier League title defence next season- where Conte’s side are fighting against the odds as no side has successfully defended their league crown this decade.
