Chelsea favourites ahead of Arsenal for Dybala

After an excellent season at Serie A side Palermo, Paulo Dybala has emerged as one of the hottest properties in European football. He’s found the net 11 times and assisted 6 others in just 17 appearances so far this campaign.

Dybala, 21, has attracted interest from all over Europe with Arsenal originally the favourites to land him in the January transfer window. However there are now claims that Chelsea have moved into pole position to sign the Argentine forward in the summer.

The speculation comes after Zamparini, the Palermo chairman, confirmed that he’ll sell his star man after he turned down their latest contract offer.

It is believed a fee of €40m will be demanded for Dybala, (£30m). A fee which will probably be negotiated much lower, as the Argentine has entered the final year of his contract.

As Sky Sports have reported the Palermo owner has had much to say about transfer activity with his many recent quotes regarding Dybala:

“I will sell him, I am almost certain of this,”

“(Juventus general director Giuseppe) Marotta told me that they are very interested in the player.”

“They (Juventus) are ready to negotiate. I have warned Marotta already that I’ve had so many offers for Dybala from half of the teams in Europe. Chelsea, PSG and other English and Spanish clubs.”

“We had an agreement with Dybala for 9million (euros a year) but the next day everything changed,”

“I was told that Dybala would no longer sign and that he now wanted up to 15million (euros) in wages. No way!”

“This is the fault of those that surround him. They have made him lose all sense of reality.

“I had treated him like a son having spent 12million euros to acquire him. I will not speak to Dybala again. I will appoint a company to negotiate Dybala’s sale.”

It’s clear Dybala will leave Palermo in the summer, but it remains a mystery who will acquire his services. However, Chelsea and Arsenal look like serious contenders to land his signature with Man United also mentioned.
