Chelsea fans slam Spaniard following woeful Community Shield outing

Chelsea fans have slammed striker Alvaro Morata following his woeful display in the Community Shield earlier this afternoon.

The Blues endured a miserable afternoon at Wembley, losing out 2-0 to Manchester City in what was manager Maurizio Sarri’s first competitive game in charge of the club.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring just 13 minutes in with his 200th career goal for City, and the Argentine doubled his tally for the day in the second half to complete the scoring.

While Aguero enjoyed a landmark day at Wembley however, his opposing number Alvaro Morata instead had a day to forget.

The Spaniard struggled to get involved in the game from the off, managing just one shot – which was off-target – the whole game, as well as being dispossessed four times by City defenders.

Following the game, former City star Richard Dunne labelled Morata ‘ a disgrace’, insisting the club will have to invest heavily in the next few days in order to replace him.

“I know the manager’s only had two weeks, but there were some players in that team that looked like they didn’t want to be there. Or they weren’t fit enough,” said Dunne.

“I think you can change the tactics or make the team work harder, but actual individuals? I’m talking specifically about Morata. Morata was a disgrace up front, he was awful. They’ll have to spend an awful lot of money over the next week.”

Morata joined Chelsea last summer as a club record signing from Real Madrid, however after a fantastic start to life at Stamford Bridge, managed just 11 Premier League goals all season, and just three since the turn of the year in all competitions.

That run has continued in pre-season, as well as at Wembley today, and the Chelsea fans think it’s high time the 25-year-old was on his way out of Stamford Bridge …
