Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta has hinted he will return to Italy this January if he can’t force his way into Maurizio Sarri’s first team plans.
The 26-year-old joined Chelsea in a €28 million deal from Torino last summer, however has struggled to establish himself as a regular at Stamford Bridge, making just twelve starts in the Premier League last season.
This term under new boss Maurizio Sarri, the Italian has found himself even further ostracised.
Zappacosta has been an un-used substitute in each of Chelsea’s three fixtures so far this season, and the full-back has now suggested he could leave the club after Christmas if his circumstances don’t change.
“Could I return to Italy? Yes, Inter Milan had been after me,” Zappacosta said.
“My agent Alessandro Lucci had told me about their interest, although I’ve always remained focused on Chelsea. Could I return (to Inter) in January?
“I have three more years on my contract here and I only want to think about doing well with Chelsea.
“There’s a lot of competition here, but I want to win a place in the 11. After that, it’s clear that if I didn’t find much room, I don’t think any player would like that.”
Safe to say the Chelsea fans aren’t too fussed about the prospect of the Italian returning home …
I have forgotten that he is part of the team.

Nice. Slowly getting rid of the players that aren’t quite good enough. Hopefully Moses and Drinkwater are next.
