Chelsea fans delighted as youngster pens new long-term deal at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea fans are delighted with the news that Ethan Ampadu has signed a new long term contract at Stamford Bridge. 

Ampadu, 18, signed a new five-year deal with the club late last week.

The Welshman has made seven appearances for Chelsea’s first team, however has yet to feature under new boss Maurizio Sarri.

He could however be given his first chance to shine against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup tomorrow afternoon having impressed on international duty with Wales and with both Antonio Rudiger and Gary Cahill out injured.

Upon signing the deal, Ampadu told the official Chelsea website: “I’m really proud and happy. I’m looking forward to the next five years and all I have got to do now is continue to work hard, and hopefully good things will happen.”

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia also expressed her delight at the teenager’s decision to commit his future to the Blues, saying: “We look forward to watching him develop into a key player for the club over the coming years.”

And the Chelsea fans have since emulated Granovskaia’s delight on Twitter, with many feeling the Blues have tied down one of the Premier League’s hottest young talents …
