Chelsea fans believe Eden Hazard proved he is better than Neymar with display against Brazil

Chelsea fans believe Eden Hazard has proven he is better than PSG star Neymar following his performance versus Brazil on Friday.

Hazard starred as Belgium knocked out World Cup favourites Brazil in the quarter-finals with a 2-1 win in Kazan.

Roberto Martinez’s side took the lead after just 13 minutes when Manchester City star Fernandinho headed the ball into his own net from the corner.

And Belgium’s lead was doubled on the half-hour mark when Kevin De Bruyne rifled home from inside the area after being played through on goal by Romelu Lukaku. Brazil’s Renato Augusto made for a nervy end to the game when he shot home with 14 minutes to play, but it proved too little too late for Tite’s side.

While many of Belgium’s squad put in terrific performances, it was Chelsea’s Eden Hazard who stole the show however.

Facing up against Neymar, a man many considering to be the player who surpasses Hazard in being one of the best in world football – there was only one winner on the night.

The Blues winger provided a constant threat to Brazil’s usually solid defence with his magic feet and astounding agility, playing a huge role in the lead up to both of his country’s goals. But not only was he dazzling, Hazard was also industrious – a quality he is not best known for – running like a man possessed for 90+ minutes.

Neymar however struggled to enforce himself on the game, and his theatrical dive in the box in the second-half, which was waved away by the referee, summed up his tournament. Entertaining at times, petulant and king of play-acting for most of it, but most of all, disappointing.

So with Belgium and Hazard in the last four, and Brazil and Neymar returning home on what’s sure to be a long and quiet journey – has the Chelsea star proven he is just as good, if not better, than the PSG star?

These lot think so …
