Chelsea Failing To Score Vs West Ham Highlights Need For A Striker

Chelsea wasted a great opportunity to close in on first place after failing to win the home game against West Ham. Mourinho is according to some fans, the man to blame, after making some strange decisions especially during second half.

According to Metro, the Portuguese manager is also held accountable for not being able to sign a new striker. Chelsea have made some transfers, but none to fill the huge gap left in front of goal since Drogba left Stamford Bridge a few years back.

The Blues are now third in the Premier League standings and things could get worse if they don’t sign someone who is capable of constantly scoring goals. Torres, Demba Ba and Eto’o are rather excellent substitutes for a non-existent forward. They have shown little to no consistency at all throughout time and seem incapable of helping their team on a regular basis.

West Ham who are fighting to stay in the Premier League did a great job at not letting Chelsea get near goal. Even so, a club with such high standards as the one at Stamford Bridge should have done better against a side who is third from last in the league table.

Hopefully Mourinho will manage to make a move before the transfer period closes. Chelsea have been linked to some of the most important strikers in European football even since the end of last season. Unfortunately none of the Blues’ targets made it to Stamford Bridge. Although the London side have no actual spending limit, it is always going to be hard to bring in an important player during the winter.
