Chelsea Eyeing Move For ‘Next John Stones’ But Face Fierce Battle From City And Arsenal

Chelsea are among six teams keeping tabs on Swansea City centre-back Joe Rodon, according to the Daily Mail. Manchester City, Arsenal, Bournemouth, Leicester and Everton are also said to be tracking the Welsh international.

The 22-year-old has been likened to John Stones by some observers, with the ability to play out from the back, although it is believed he takes far fewer chances on the ball than the City defender.

Rodon has been watched by the likes of Chelsea over the last eighteen months, with the player having established himself in the Swans’ first team as well making his senior debut for Wales back in September.

The centre-back made his first appearance in a European Championship qualifier against Azerbaijan, with Ryan Giggs’ team coming out 2-1 winners.

Rodon has gone on to start three more games for his country, including the 1-0 friendly win versus Belarus, as well as the draws in qualifiers against Slovakia and Croatia. He was, however, out of action with an ankle injury for three months earlier this season before returning to full fitness late last month.
