Chelsea are one of the clubs who are targeting Genoa midfielder Nicolo Rovella, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Italian website adds to claims made by newspaper ll Secolo XIX, saying that the Blues, along with Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan, are interested in the 18-year-old, who models his game on Real Madrid star Luka Modric.
Rovella made his first start for Genoa at the weekend, playing in the 3-0 defeat to Inter. It was only his third senior appearance of his career but his performances are attracting the attention of scouts.
Whether Chelsea would actually need a player like Rovella, it is debatable. The Italian generally plays as a holding midfielder, dictating play from deep, and manager Frank Lampard already has a promising young player in that position: Billy Gilmour.
In any case, the player himself appears to be committed to playing for Genoa at the moment as he looks to forge his career in the first team.
