Chelsea Eye Argentine Forward Dubbed ‘The Next Messi’

Chelsea could be set to rekindle their interest in Roma and Argentina U21 forward Juan Iturbe. The Blues were previously interested in the winger whilst he was plying his trade at Porto before the Argentine sealed his £12m mve to Hellas Verona, then in the same year moving to Roma for £17.5m.

Chelsea remain on the lookout for a winger, with the uncertainty over Juan Cuadrado continuing. But Iturbe would certainly be a big gamble by Mourinho should Roma be willing to sell.

The 22-year-old has been dubbed ‘the next Messi’ by many, due to his similar stature and abilities in the pace and balance department. But since making his big money move to the Italian capital, things haven’t quite worked out for the speedster.

Iturbe has yet to show the signs we all hoped to see one day. After a promising start to his career, he has since slipped out of the limelight and is yet to show his £17.5m value. Although the No 7 is a prominent figure for Roma, it is still unclear exactly what stance they have on the player. If their valuation of the player is met by Chelsea, they could be inclined to sell.

Liverpool and Juventus are also said to be interested in the player, with Everton seemingly out of the question for Iturbe.

It remains unclear whether the Argentine will leave Roma, but if there was a change on the horizon, you can all but guarantee Mourinho would be in the pipeline to snap him up.
