Chelsea Expect To Conclude Negotiations For New Manager By The Weekend

Chelsea are confident that they will be able to hire Frank Lampard as manager by the weekend, according to the Evening Standard.

The Derby boss is said to have already told his current club that he would like to join the Blues, and it is believed negotiations will be stepped up imminently.

Lampard is Chelsea’s preferred successor to Maurizio Sarri, and it is said they have already prepared a three-year contract offer for him to take over at Stamford Bridge.

Derby owner Mel Morris has insisted that the Championship club have not received an approach from Chelsea, but that is likely to change very soon.

The Rams will demand £4m in compensation for Lampard, but it is expected that talks won’t be drawn out with the Blues keen on ensuring that a new manager is in place before preseason.

Chelsea’s transfer ban means there won’t be any signings this summer, and the new manager will be expected to take advantage of the club’s large crop of talented young players.
