Chelsea Discover The Two Conditions They Must Meet To Sign David Alaba

Bayern Munich defender David Alaba will only sign for another club if they agree to two conditions, according to Le Parisien.

The French newspaper reports that the Austrian wants to play in midfield, as it is the position he is most comfortable in despite playing mostly as a centre-back or left-back in recent seasons.

Alaba also wants to earn €25m a season, which works out at around £418,000 a week; an astronomical figure which is likely to put off a number of clubs.

Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that both Chelsea and Liverpool are still pressing to sign the 28-year-old on a free transfer, although Real Madrid remain in the driving seat.

Other reports claim that Manchester United and Manchester City are also involved in the race, although Le Parisien assert that the finances involved may leave just Real and Paris Saint-Germain as the two main contenders to sign the player.

Whether Chelsea would be interested in Alaba simply as a midfielder, though, it is not known, but that demand may also put off a number of suitors, in addition to his salary expectations.
