Chelsea are on top of the Premier League due to some really intelligent moves made by Mourinho this summer. It seems that the Blues are the only ones who look stronger than last year. Arsenal have major squad problems, City lack determination, Liverpool look to be drifting without Suarez and Manchester United are still a long way away from what they were. The West Londoners on the other hand are thriving in all departments. Even if Costa and Fabregas form one of the deadliest duo’s in the UK, the Daily Mail considers Cahill, Azpiliqueta and Terry the most important people in the squad.

To be fair, the three are currently part of the best defensive line in the Premier League. With Terry back in shape and with Cahill a lot more constant than before, it is close to impossible for adversaries to get through. Ivanovic and Azpiliqueta also impressed with their energy consuming performances that got wingers from the other teams frustrated due to their inability to get through towards goal.

It would be close impossible for anyone to find a better defensive line in Europe right now. Chelsea look very well-balanced and quite comfortable with playing aside one another. Even so, Mourinho is still looking for reinforcements. The Blues are setting up to sign Pique this winter which will really make Chelsea’s defense impenetrable. Not only the Londoners have great players on pitch, but they will also have great substitutes to count on if the situation demands it.
