Chelsea Defender Posts Thank You Message On Instagram

The longest serving player currently at Chelsea, Cesar Azpilicueta, posted a message of gratitude on Instagram to those who wished him well following his scary head injury that he suffered in the Blues 1-0 defeat against Southampton on the weekend.

In the post, Azpilicueta wrote: “Hi everyone! Thank you all for your love and messages of support! My family and I would like to thank everyone who has been looking after me since yesterday’s incident.

“From the @ChelseaFC medical team, to teammates and opponents, to St Mary’s and Cleveland Hospital and all staff members and doctors: a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart. Now, time to recover and I will see you soon on the pitch!”

The post was liked by a number of Azpilicueta’s Chelsea teammates, including Mykhailo Mudryk, Marc Cucurella and Joao Felix. Additionally, several of them left messages of encouragement to the Blues legend on his post. Currently, his post has 317,000 likes.

It is unclear when Azpilicueta will return to action – of course, the main concern at this point is that his condition is stable.

The 33-year-old was caught in the face deep into the second half by Southampton’s Sekou Mara. He required oxygen as he was stretchered off, but regained consciousness during his departure from the field and clapped as he was stretchered off.
