Chelsea Defender ‘Open’ To Leaving Club With Italy His Likeliest Destination

Chelsea right-back Davide Zappacosta is “open” to leaving the club this summer, according to Goal.com.

The 27-year-old has fallen behind Reece James in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and is keen to return home in order to get more first-team football.

Currently, though, there are no Serie A teams willing to make an offer for Zappacosta.

Lazio were interested in the fullback during the January transfer window, but have since moved on to other targets.

There is a possibility that Zappacosta could link up with former manager Maurizio Sarri at Juventus but that is dependent on Juve making room in their squad.

The Italian was signed in 2017 for £23m from Torino but has never been a first-team regular. It’s likely that Chelsea will have to agree to loan him out if they want to offload him this summer.

Serie A’s transfer deadline is August 18th so there is some time for a deal to be worked out.
