Chelsea Dealt Transfer Blow As Spain Star Dismisses Talk Of £70m Transfer

Real Madrid midfielder Isco has ruled out the possibility of leaving the La Liga side in the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old has been heavily linked with a £70m move to Chelsea in recent weeks but the Spanish international has dismissed talk that he could be leaving the Bernabeu in the near future:

“There’s nothing I’m going to leave for; I’m very happy. Of course, I want to remain with Madrid and continue winning trophies.”

Isco has not featured regularly under Santiago Solari since the Argentine took the reins in October. The playmaker has only started twice under the Madrid head coach, one in the Spanish Cup and the other in a dead rubber Champions League group stage match.

The midfielder has made 18 appearances this campaign, scoring four goals and contributing two assists. He has, however, only made ten starts in all competitions.

Isco was an unused substitute in the 4-1 win over Al-Ain in the Club World Cup final earlier this month. Whether he will feature more prominently when the La Liga season kicks back into action next week, it remains to be seen.

As well as the Blues, the Spaniard is also said to have been tracked by Arsenal and Manchester City.
