Chelsea Dealt Major Blow In Battle To Sign German Teenage Sensation Following New Contract Development

Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko is close to agreeing a new contract with the Bundesliga club, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.

The German publication says that, while teams such as Chelsea are interested in the teenager, it looks as though he will now be staying in Germany.

Moukoko’s current deal was set to expire in June, prompting a scramble for the 18-year-old’s signature. Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal were also said to be keen on the forward but the Blues were reportedly the frontrunners to secure his services.

However, it seems as though the German international has opted to remain at his current team. He has established himself as a regular starter this season, having played 22 times in all competitions, and that may have played a part in his decision.

Ruhr Nachrichten says that an official announcement about Moukoko’s contract extension won’t happen for a while but the feeling is that Dortmund have won the battle to keep him.
