Chelsea Could Still Make Their Way To First Place Before The End Of 2013

Chelsea made it look easy against one of the best teams of last season. Even so, Mourinho’s side show some problems when it comes to putting in consistent team efforts. If not for players like Hazard and Oscar, the Blues would have serious problems keeping up with Manchester City, Arsenal or even Liverpool who despite a lower budget, manage to perform brilliantly.

The two midfielders were the first to cause problems for Swansea. Both had chances to open the score just 10 minutes into the game. Eto’o had an awful day and missed a lot of great chances despite some great assists by his teammates.

With half an hour gone, Hazard had a great run on the left side of the field that ended with a powerful shot which beat Swansea’s defenders and slipped under Tremmel in the Swansea net. The Swans almost managed to equalize 3 minutes after the Belgian’s opener but Cech tipped it over the crossbar. It was a poor overall response from Chelsea’s adversaries who did not manage much until the end of the first half.

The second half had no big moments and had Chelsea fans looking pretty bored. Lampard came on for Oscar and had a chance to make it 2-0 but was denied by Tremmel. Willian also made an appearance after replacing Hazard who looked pretty impressive compared to many others. Ramires was the last to try and score for the Blues who took their foot off the gas with 10 minutes to go. Swansea had few opportunities to score but failed to take any of their chances and the game ended with another unconvincing win for Mourinho’s side.
