Chelsea Could Offer Player In Bid To Secure £80m Rated Ivorian Speedster In January

Chelsea will look to offer Olivier Giroud in their bid to secure a deal for Wilfried Zaha in the January transfer window, according to reports in the English media.

Crystal Palace are set to demand £80m for the Ivorian international but they are apparently interested in Giroud in order to strengthen their strikeforce.

The move could suit both parties with Giroud’s contract expiring in the summer. The Frenchman is looking to move on in January due to his lack of game time. He is reportedly concerned that he could miss out on a place in France’s squad for next summer’s European Championships.

Zaha, meanwhile, is one of Chelsea’s top transfer targets. Both Willian and Pedro have contracts that end in June next year and manager Frank Lampard wants to ensure he continues to have good options in wide areas.

The former Manchester United player was subject to bids from Arsenal and Everton last summer and is believed to be open to leaving Selhurst Park.
