Chelsea Could Lose England Star To United

According to the Daily Star, Chelsea face a tough battle fending off interest in Southampton defender Luke Shaw, as reports suggest Manchester United are confident of beating the Blues in the race to sign the talented England youth star.

At 18-years of age, Shaw has impressed all the big clubs with his all-round development. His position in the Southampton squad is that of an attacking left-back, and Shaw has been lethal in providing the club a boost both defensively and offensively. Shaw began his career as a youth player for the Saints, and was quick to impress the coaches at the club. Under Mauricio Pochettino, the defender has flourished this season, making 23 out of 26 league starts.

Having snubbed offers last summer, Shaw will again be flooded with lucrative offers from big clubs, and Chelsea will face a hard time convincing the player of a starting position with Cesar Azpilicueta currently guarding the position. David Moyes will look to seal a deal for Shaw, who could finally put an end to Patrice Evra’s long stint at the club, and replace the French fullback in the first team as the United boss is not convinced that Alexander Buttner is the right long-term option.
