Chelsea Could Have One More Representative In Brazil In JT

Roy Hodgson has yet to decide if John Terry will get asked to represent England during the World Cup in Brazil. According to The Telegraph, Chelsea’s defender might get another shot at performing for the Three Lions during the summer considering the poor form England’s defensive line have shown over the past two games.

Terry’s great form could surely help Hodgson who is having trouble deciding on a strong defense which will have to face strikers like Suarez, Cavani and Balotelli during the group stages. Unfortunately for the England manager, the former captain had announced his international retirement in 2012 and has not given any sign that could point to his return since then. His decision was greatly influenced by the FA’s actions.

After being acquitted in court for allegedly using abusive and racial language towards an adversary, the Football Association decided to put together a second committee in order to re-analyze the verdict given in a court of law.

Because of that, the former English international decided to end his career after 78 caps and 6 goals. The £220,000 fine and the four match ban received from the FA commission was a sanction Terry did not find fair. Even with Hodgson’s support he still decided to no longer be a part of England’s national team. Chelsea supported their long-standing Captain throughout the ordeal and he has paid them back with a stellar season this campaign under Mourinho again.

Terry would surely be the best choice for his national team. With him next to Gary Cahill, England would definitely be a whole lot stronger especially considering the two know each other so well. Chelsea’s defensive line has been praised several times with JT being the centre of attention. If the remainder of his season continues in the same way and he leads Chelsea to silverware (which looks quite likely at this point), it would be a pity for football fans not to see him perform in Brazil.
