Chelsea Could Become Premier League Leaders After Their Next Match

Chelsea were not at all convincing during their last two games. Mourinho also spoke about the problems he is currently facing and how not immediate solution is in sight. Even so, the Blues put in a decent effort and dominated Crystal Palace who are 18th in the Premier League standings.

Chamakh was the man to look out for. Arsenal’s former striker had the first chance but was denied by Azpilicueta. Luiz also had do fend off Mariappa’s attempt on goal which was quickly followed by a chance from Jerome. Hazard and Willian responded but Crystal Palace’s defense were up to the challenge. Jerome had another chance but Luiz denied him the opportunity to make it into the box.

The Blues had their first scoring opportunity 16 minutes into the game. Ramires’s effort was denied by Speroni. Four minutes after that, Torres got his 2nd goal of the season. He profited off of Willian’s shot which was deflected by Speroni. The Spaniard scored from close range, giving his team a one goal advantage.

Unexpectedly, Palace managed to get a goal back through Chamakh who got his third consecutive strike. Terry was to blame for the equalizer, after losing the Moroccan along the way.

With only five minutes gone after Crystal Palace scored, Ramires shot the ball in the right corner giving Speroni no chance whatsoever. There was not much going on until the end of the first half.

The next 45 minutes saw Chelsea relaxing more than they should. Fortunately for them, their adversaries were not having a great day. Mourinho sent in Oscar to replace Mata with 30 minutes to go.

Chelsea were close to losing their 1 goal advantage during the 79th minute when Terry had to clear the ball off the goal line. O’Keefe was closer than ever to level the score but the English international denied his shot. The game ended with Ramires’s late chance to score. Unfortunately for Chelsea, his shot was well wide.

After the days results Chelsea now sit only 2 points behind Arsenal and the Blues are yet to hit top form.
