Chelsea Closing In On Schurrle

Chelsea Closing In On Schurrle

The 2012-2013 has come to an end and Chelsea are finally ready to start building on their new squad that involves some important changes. Benitez has ended his interim contract and a new manager is set to come to Stamford Bridge. Even if things are not quite clear on who is going to take charge of the Blues, some transfers are set to go down during the next days. One of the players that is more than likely to wear the blue shirt for next season is Andre Schurrle. He has been on Abramovich’s list since last year and negotiations point to the fact that Leverkusen’s forward is going to make an important step for his career and make the move to west London.

It has been a great season for the German international who managed an impressive 14 goal streak. Even if the Bundesliga is not considered as strong of a championship as the Premier League experts are sure that Schurrle will quickly adapt and improve his game as soon as he sets foot in the UK. Over the past months he was constantly courted by Chelsea who even flew the 22 year old player to London to get a taste of what a club such as the one at Stamford Bridge is all about.

According to Metro, it appears that the only impediment between what is likely to be a great collaboration is German side, Bayer Leverkusen, who are keen on getting the most out of a possible transfer. Schurrle already expressed his interest towards moving to a bigger club by saying that he is ready to leave after this season comes to an end.

Even if Mourinho has not yet made any official statement regarding his possible arrival at Stamford Bridge some plans such as the one to transfer Schurrle still seem pretty probable regardless. The Portuguese manager will probably come with a list of his own but it appears that the German international is such a good a fit for the club that regardless of the person who will be coaching the Blues for next season he will still remain a priority.
