Chelsea Close To Making Unexpected Transfers

It is going to be a rough season for Chelsea who probably need to focus on the Champions League rather than on the Premier League when title hopes are long-lost. Even if Mourinho’s side has started to show a bit more character on the pitch, they still need some reinforcements especially up front where it seems Diego Costa will be left alone after Falcao and Remy will be told to leave. The two will probably be replaced by two of three players currently on the scouting list:

  1. Jonathan Calleri – this young Boca star has already said good-bye to fans in a mysterious tweet that got people intrigued by his new destination. The 22-year-old skyrocketed this season and increased his market value from £100,000 to £6m. He scored 21 goals and provided 11 assists in 2015 which brought him to the attention of Argentina’s Gerardo Martino. He was not called in to represent his country yet but he is very close to getting there.
  2. Alexandre Pato – some of you might remember him some of you might not. He was once the wonder-child of Brazil and most importantly, the most promising striker in Europe. Unfortunately, his time spent with AC Milan did not do him any good and determined this incredible talent to move back home to Corinthians. He has grown a lot since then in terms of personality and a return to Europe might do him a world of good. He is now 26 and still has a lot to show for. Hopefully a move to the Premier League will not be too much for him in terms of physical stress.
  3. Charlie Austin – this 26-year-old just missed a move from QPR at the end of this summer’s transfer window. He is one of the Championship’s best scorers averaging 1 goal ever two games. In his time spent in the Premier League he found the net 18 times and made 7 assists in 35 games. He is out of contract in June and he could definitely be a solid replacement for both Remy and Falcao.

Each of these three players would be an interesting choice. Calleri would be the most promising, Pato would be the one who could either be incredible or be worse than Falcao and Austin would be the safe choice.
