Chelsea Close In On Gerard Pique

Barcelona’s Gerard Pique is looking to return to the Premier League after his fallout with his current club. The Spanish defender has been linked to several teams since he started having trouble with the Catalans. According to Metro, Pique is very likely to be working with Mourinho in the future. His two options are now to join either Chelsea or Manchester United. With the second team being the one who sent the Spaniard packing a while back, The Blues really have chance to bring in one experienced, young defender to add to the Spanish Internationals who are already shining since moving to Stamford Bridge.

Having Fabregas and Costa in London is a massive advantage for Chelsea who have the upper hand in signing Pique. Both sides will benefit off of a transfer. Mourinho will have three of Spain’s main men filling in the central axis of the team and Pique will probably return as a team regular after Terry says his goodbyes.

The transfer should go down in January when at least a pre-contract will be signed. An offer has already been made as announced by several online publications over the few couple of days. Barcelona have been given a £23.6million offer for the 27 year old who will probably team up with Cahill or Zouma in the middle of the defense for the next couple of years. With Pique on the pitch, Chelsea could become invincible next season if they do not manage it this year.
