Chelsea Chuffed With Mourinho Return – Demba Ba

Jose Mourinho joined Chelsea back in 2004, fresh from his European triumph with Porto. In his first season in charge of the Blues, the Portugese manager took the club to the top and made sure that Chelsea were soon a force to be reckoned with in England, as well as in Europe. He was the person responsible for starting Chelsea’s rise to prominence.

He left London after 4 successful years to join Inter Milan, and then moved onto Real Madrid where he is currently in charge, however it was recently made clear that he will be leaving the Spanish giants after a relatively poor season by his standards. Since then, a return to Chelsea has been heavily touted.

This news has obviously excited Chelsea players like Juan Mata and even Frank Lampard, who has revealed his desire to reunite with Mourinho. Joining the list of players now is former Newcastle United man, Demba Ba. He was speaking to the press about the possibility of working under the manager with the Midas’ touch, and the Senegalese international was visibly excited. He was reported by Metro as saying, “You see what he has won, what he has brought to his teams and to his players individually, and of course he is one of the best.”

“He knows everything about Chelsea having already managed the team for three or four years. He knows everybody here and he knows the club.”

“Everybody is thinking about it and everybody is happy. They know that he is a person that wants to win.”

Ba is certainly doing his bit to get into the good books of the Portugese manager for next season, given the fact that the arrival of another high-profile striker looks imminent at Stamford Bridge, and game time could possibly be hard to come by for him.

What could be interesting next season is which of the strikers currently at Chelsea will be sacrificed. Will it be Ba, who will be relegated to the bench, or will it be Torres, who was finally starting to find his feet at the very end of last season under Rafael Benitez?
