Chelsea Believe There Is One Key Reason Why They Can Beat The Competition To Sign Erling Haaland

Chelsea believe they may be one of the few teams who can sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland next summer due to the financial impact of the global health crisis, according to The Athletic.

The Blues are eyeing up an ambitious approach for the Norwegian international and, with the forward’s €75m (£67m) release clause only coming into effect in 2022, it may lead to many clubs waiting another year to make their move.

Real, Manchester United and Manchester City are also thought to be keen on Haaland but it seems Chelsea will look to be opportunistic in their attempts to secure the player’s signature before others are in the position to make a bid for the 20-year-old.

What seems clear, though, is that Chelsea will have to break their transfer record to get their man. Dortmund are likely to demand a figure in excess of £100m for the Norwegian, but the importance of the signing may make them push through the deal.
