Chelsea Await Decision As Agent Confirms That 37M Transfer Could Be Finalised ‘Soon’

There are two English clubs, in addition to Bayern Munich, who are serious contenders in the battle to sign RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper quotes the agent of the player, saying that a deal could well be finalised “soon”, with Bayern currently the favourites after making a “good impression” following a meeting with the Bundesliga side.

Sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic spoke publicly over the weekend to confirm that he had held a formal discussion with the representatives of Upamecano.

At the moment, the identity of the two Premier League teams are not known but Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have been reported as having an interest in the 22-year-old.

The France international has a €42m (£37m) release clause that comes into effect in the summer and it appears it won’t be long before we find out whether the centre-back will be moving to Stamford Bridge.
