Chelsea Attempts To Sign 25M Rated Bundesliga Star Thrown Into Doubt After Latest Development

Bayern Munich will attempt to extend Niklas Sule’s contract by a year, according to Sport Bild. The German magazine claim that an agreement could be reached between the player and the club in order to “buy time” for both sides.

The defender has been heavily linked with Chelsea in recent months, with manager Thomas Tuchel keen to strengthen the club’s options at centre-back ahead of next season.

Sule currently has just one year remaining on his current deal at Bayern, and he is likely to be available for just £25m, which is an excellent price for a 25-year-old who has 32 caps for Germany.

However, the Blues have yet to make contact about signing the player, and they could now be in danger of missing out on the centre-half if he does open negotiations with his current club over a contract extension.

In terms of priorities, it does appear as though signing a new defender is not among Chelsea’s most pressing concerns but they could regret not pursuing Sule before he commits to a new deal.
