Chelsea Are ‘Willing To Pay’ Over £44m For Spanish Star Just Weeks After He Was Snapped Up For £9m

Chelsea are “willing to pay” over double Getafe left-back Marc Cucurella’s £22m valuation, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spaniard is one of a number of fullbacks that Frank Lampard’s side are looking at this summer after catching the eye of club scouts during an impressive season in La Liga.

Cucurella was actually on loan at Getafe last campaign but the Spanish side snapped up the 22-year-old on a permanent basis from Barcelona for €10m (£9m) at the start of July. With Barca still holding a 10% sell-on clause on the player, though, it does mean that the fullback would cost more with Getafe keen to make a good profit on the player.

At this stage, it is unlikely that Cucurella’s name is high on the Blues’ list of transfer priorities. Leicester’s Ben Chilwell remains the London club’s top target for the left-back position, while the likes of Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico and Real Madrid’s Sergio Reguilon are also being considered.
