Chelsea And Tottenham Both Send Scouts To Italy As They Weigh Up Summer Swoop For Guinean Star

Chelsea and Tottenham both sent scouts to watch Roma midfielder Amadou Diawara in action against Juventus on Sunday night, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Guinean international only joined the Giallorossi from Napoli in the summer, but the Blues are said to be monitoring the player closely ahead of a potential bid at the end of the season.

Diawara was snapped up by Roma for close to £20m in July and has been impressing observers with his performances for the Serie A club in recent weeks.

The 22-year-old has been tipped for big things but his development did stall somewhat at Napoli where he barely featured under Carlo Ancelotti last season.

However, a move to Rome has given Diawara a new lease of life. The Guinean did not start the campaign as first choice under manager Paulo Fonseca, but he has now started Roma’s last nine matches in all competitions.
