Chelsea And The Special One Go Their Separate Ways

Chelsea And The Special One Go Their Separate Ways

In what has to be the story of the season so far Jose Mourinho and Chelsea have parted ways by mutual consent.

Chelsea have suffered a severe loss of form this season and are currently a place above the relegation zone and indeed are only one point out of the bottom three.

Many people suspected that the writing was on the wall for the two time blues manager after the events of Monday night. Chelsea were comprehensively beaten by league leaders Leicester City at the King Power stadium and the 2-1 scoreline actually flattered them as the Foxes were dominant with Vardy and Mahrez scoring to put them well up on Chelsea and if it had not been for Loic Remy’s 77th minute strike then the game would have been even worse for Mourinho’s men.

After the match Mourinho talked of some of his players having “betrayed” him which is a strong word indeed and suggests that the manager genuinely felt like some of his players had possibly turned against him. Perhaps this was the final straw for the Chelsea board who today made the move for a new manager, as Jose Mourinho left the Chelsea training ground for the last time with Guus Hiddink reportedly due to take over as interim manager as he has done in the past.

It is a shame that after winning the title this past May Chelsea have had such bad run of form which has ultimately caused the change in manager. Jose Mourinho is a great manager and his record at Chelsea speaks for itself. It is such a shame things ended the way they did, the Special One will be missed.
