Chelsea And PL Rivals Contact Agents Of 16 Cap Brazilian As They Look To Exploit Club’s 133M Financial Black Hole

Chelsea and Newcastle have both been in contact with the entourage of Barcelona winger Raphinha, according to Sport.

The Catalan publication reports that the two teams have not made further enquiries at this stage but they are keeping a close eye on the player’s situation.

Neither Raphinha nor his club are currently open to a transfer but Barca are under pressure to fill a €150m (£133m) hole in their finances. While they would prefer to offload other less important players, there is still a possibility that the Brazilian could be sold this summer.

The 26 year-old, who has been capped 16 times by his country, was the subject of bids from both Chelsea and Arsenal last year but he turned down the two London teams in order to secure a move to Spain.

Whether the former Leeds player would consider making a return to England, if Barcelona are forced into a sale, we shall have to wait and see.
