Chelsea and Manchester United are scouting Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, according to O Jogo.

The Portuguese newspaper reports the 24-year-old’s form this season has attracted the attention of the two clubs.

Fernandes has scored 18 goals this campaign, which is the most for any midfielder in a top European league.

He has already surpassed the 16 he scored for Sporting in the whole of last season and he was again on the scoresheet during the week.

Fernandes started the Lisbon derby against Benfica in the Portuguese Cup but his goal proved to be just a consolation in a 2-1 defeat.

The midfielder could have left Sporting on a free transfer in the summer, along with the likes of Rui Patricio and Gelson Martins who terminated their contracts due to a training ground attack last season.

However, Fernandes opted to stay with the Portuguese club and signed a new five-year contract back in July.
