Chelsea And Inter Milan Both Hold ‘First Discussions’ Over Signing £32.4m Rated French Ace

Chelsea and Inter Milan are set to battle it out over Lille attacking midfielder Jonathan Ikone, according to Le10 Sport.

The French publication claims that both clubs have held their “first discussions” with Lille over signing the France international, although there have been no formal offers at this stage.

Ikone, who is valued at £32.4m by Transfermarkt, had a pretty average campaign with just four goals and seven assists in 36 appearances.

However, he is only 22 years of age, and he is capable of playing in a number of positions, including as a number 10 or anywhere across the front three.

After a slow start, Ikone did finish the campaign pretty strongly with six assists in his last 13 league games. He also got his first senior cap for France back in September, scoring on his debut in the 4-1 win over Albania.

It’s likely that Chelsea are considering alternatives to Kai Havertz, just in case a move for the German international proves to be too costly.
