Chelsea Among Two ‘Big Names’ Targeting Deal For 33.5M Rated Italian International Defender

Chelsea and Manchester United are the “big names” who will challenge Everton for Roma centre-back Gianluca Mancini, according to Calciomercato.com.

The 24-year-old has been in good form for the Giallorossi this season and the Serie A side are reluctant to sell the Italian international, after only signing him on a permanent basis from Atalanta in September.

Mancini cost Roma approximately €24m in total, including loan and transfer fees, and Calciomercato have recently reported that the Italian club would demand at least €10m to €15m more than that figure.

It means the defender’s asking price stands around the €34m (£29m) to €39m (£33.5m) mark, which is still likely to be cheaper than the other centre-half options the Blues are reportedly pursuing.

Chelsea have so far shortlisted Bayern Munich’s Niklas Sule, RB Leipzig’s Ibrahima Konate and Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez and it seems Mancini may well be another target they are looking at ahead of the summer.
