Chelsea Among Trio Of Premier League Sides Lining Up Surprise Swoop For Barcelona Playmaker

Chelsea are weighing up a move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic next summer, according to Catalan publication Sport.

The newspaper reports that Arsenal and Manchester United are also monitoring the Croatian international’s situation at the Camp Nou.

Rakitic remains a key first-team player at Barca but things could change significantly at the end of the season with the arrival of a number of midfielders.

The La Liga side have already agreed a deal to sign Frenkie de Jong from Ajax for £75m in the summer, and the club are also favourites to land PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer.

While Rakitic is said to be keen to remain at Barcelona, his playing time could dramatically decrease next season and much will depend on manager Ernesto Valverde on who he picks to start.

With that being the case, Chelsea are said to be lining up a summer offer to test the waters for the 30-year-old. Whether that bid materialises, we shall see.
