Chelsea Among Five Teams Eyeing Turkish Under 21 International Goalkeeper

Chelsea are one of five clubs keeping close tabs on Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, according to Turksvoetbel.net. Scouts from the Blues are said to have been impressed with his performances this campaign.

The London club will face competition, however, from the likes of Atletico Madrid, Schalke, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich who have also been watching the 21-year-old play.

Bayindir only joined Fenerbahce from Ankaragucu in July but has performed well during the opening weeks of the Super Lig season. The Turkish Under 21 international has started all seven league games so far, conceding seven and keeping two clean sheets.

In Kepa Arrizabalaga, Chelsea have their first choice keeper for many years to come, but with the 38-year-old Willy Caballero still the club’s number two, some younger blood will be needed in the goalkeeping department very soon.

There are hopes that the likes of Nicolas Tie and Karlo Ziger, as well as Jamie Cumming, will develop, but a more experienced understudy for Kepa will also be needed.
