So far Falcao is nowhere nearly as efficient as Mourinho had hoped. He is providing little competition for Costa and Remy and has almost no impact on the outcome of a game when he is sent on the pitch. With just 9 shots in 7 games and 1 goal scored for Chelsea, the 29-year-old Colombian is very likely to leave the Premier League even earlier than expected. According to ESPN, Mourinho is looking for a replacement who could be successful in helping Costa who, as recently seen, is walking a very thin line.
That replacement could come from Spain where 22-year-old Paco Alcacer is starting to become a key member of the team for Valencia. The young striker, who is having a slow start this season, has made 87 appearances for Valencia already and managed 29 goals and 9 assists. What caught Mourinho’s eye is probably the way the youngster performs on an international level as Alcacer found the net 6 times in 10 games for Spain. Deemed one of Spain’s most expensive players, the striker is under contract with Valencia until 2020 and would cost Chelsea a lot of money, money which could be spent elsewhere. There’s not much tying this Spaniard to a move to London other than rumors it appears. If we look a bit deeper into this rumor of him joining Chelsea, we can see that there are few chances to see the Blues pay £50 million which is what Valencia want for Alcacer. In all fairness, it would be a waste to see Mourinho splash that kind of money when you could get Benzema, Lacazette or Cavani for that kind of money.
