Chelsea Ace ‘Could Still Face Liverpool’ Following Positive Injury News

Chelsea attacking midfielder Mason Mount did not damage any ankle ligaments against Valencia and “could still face Liverpool” according to the Sun.

The newspaper reports that the 20-year-old only sprained an ankle despite a crunching challenge from Valencia midfielder Francis Coquelin which forced him off in the first half of the 1-0 defeat.

It is still touch and go whether Mount will be fit enough to face the Reds on Sunday, but the Blues are now more confident of a speedy recovery after further medical examinations.

The England international’s absence will be keenly felt at the weekend if he is forced to miss the game due to the injury. He has scored three goals in seven games for Frank Lampard’s side this campaign.

Despite only breaking into the first team at the start of the season, Mount is already a key player for the Blues and supporters will be hoping that he can win his fitness battle.
