‘Chelsea Above All…’ Report Reveals Blues Are Now Favourites To Sign Celta Vigo Star With £34.7M Release Clause

Chelsea are now the frontrunners to snap up Celta Vigo attacking midfielder Gabri Veiga, according to TMW.

The Italian website claims that Real Madrid were the firm favourites to secure the Spanish Under 21 international’s signature but they have now pulled out after successfully winning the race for Jude Bellingham.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle have also been mentioned as potential suitors for Veiga previously and Chelsea have seemingly emerged on the scene as a potential suitor pretty recently.

The 20-year-old has been in great form this season, scoring nine goals in 34 appearances, and the fact that he has a €40m (£34.7m) release clause makes him an attractive transfer target.

Chelsea’s Mount Replacement?

It’s probably not a coincidence that Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Veiga, with the news that Mason Mount looks destined to leave Stamford Bridge.

Talks over a new contract have stalled and reports have emerged in recent days that Manchester United could be ready to table a bid for the midfielder. The Blues are believed to be holding out for as much as £85m to sell the England international.

From the sound of things, some of those funds may well be devoted to recruiting Veiga as his replacement.
